Product Details Overview: The DST micro-ACT is an implantable biologger designed for monitoring activity and core body temperature in small animals. It is minimally invasive, simple to implant and explant, and features on-board calculation of acceleration statistics from 3-axis accelerometer data. Ideal for studies on small captive and free-ranging animals. Key Features Statistical and raw 3-axis accelerometer data Minimally invasive Small size (3.3g) Stress-free long-term studies Guaranteed accuracy and performance Description Statistical and raw 3-axis accelerometer data: Each activity measurement is a burst over one minute with a user-programmable sampling frequency (0.03Hz-10Hz). Statistical parameters are calculated on-board based on dynamic body acceleration. Raw accelerometer measurements can be stored for further processing. Minimally Invasive: Simultaneously measures long-term activity and core body temperature. Simple to implant/explant, made from ceramic housing for biocompatibility. Application: Suitable for studies on behavior, pre-clinical vaccine efficacy, stress response, animal welfare, and all biosafety levels. Usable in laboratory, domestic, and wildlife animal research. Overview of Changes in Animal Activity Over Time: Measures acceleration in three dimensions relative to earth's gravity. Each measurement is a burst over one minute with a chosen sampling frequency. Stress-Free Long-Term Studies: Battery life over 13 months (sampling every 15 minutes at 1Hz). No data transmission, so no housing/environmental restrictions. Different Measurement Intervals: Programmable with multiple intervals within a study (e.g., different intervals for day/night), optimizing battery life and memory. Guaranteed Accuracy and Performance: Each logger is individually calibrated for temperature and acceleration. Comes with a calibration certificate. Accuracy and performance guaranteed for one year after purchase. Using the Logger Designed for ease of use from setup to data retrieval. Supported by Mercury software and a Communication Box (required for first order). Programming: Logger is placed in Communication Box and connected to software. User sets start time/date and sampling interval. Statistical parameters and raw accelerometer data: Six statistical parameters per one-minute measurement (minimum, maximum, average EA*, variance, skewness, kurtosis). Raw data can be stored for additional calculations. *EA: external acceleration, calibrated and normalized, comparable to VeDBA. Multiple measurement intervals can be set for the same study. Software calculates memory capacity and battery consumption based on interval settings. Data upload: Logger is inserted into the Communication Box, data uploaded to software, displayed graphically and in tables, exportable to other programs. Reusable: Logger can be sterilized and reused as long as the battery lasts. Battery life can be checked in software. Hermetically sealed: Implantable grade, waterproof, high pressure tolerance. Battery is not replaceable. Implantation Leadless design and small size make implantation simple and minimally invasive. Suitable for small animals such as rats, small rodents, small birds, and fish. Loggers can be sterilized and reused as long as the battery lasts. Not all sterilization methods are suitable (avoid temperatures above 60°C).
