Controlled contamination environments have the purpose of checking and managing contaminants. In the case of harmful dust, the contaminants must not be disseminated either inside or outside the controlled environments. A very effective method is to equip these spaces with special machinery. The latter are called "Air showers", which are able to remove any fibres or dust deposited on the clothing of staff entering or leaving two areas. This removal takes place by air washing, in ISO5 Class, according to ISO EN 14644-1, which causes particles to detach at high speed (± 26 m/sec) Each air shower is made up of high-flow nozzles. These are evenly distributed over the internal surface of the shower (ceiling and walls). A large capacity air flow, pre-filtered by a synthetic cell filter and then by a HEPA filter, is able, by contact with the garment, to detach inert or active particles present on the operator. Thus, this operation causes their total removal from clothing. The contaminated air collected at base of the shower is extracted by special grills. The latter will filter the air, once more, to then put it back into circulation through nozzles, that are regulated through an adjustment damper. The required air flow is ensured by an ECM electric fan with an IE4 high efficiency integrated inverter. A small amount of air is expelled or vacuumed through an opening controlled by a modulating damper. The latter can be managed from the operator panel. In this way it is be possible to maintain a slight pressure or depression (adjustable), kept constant by the damper, in the internal compartment of the shower compared adjacent environments.
